is 9 Volts, 350 mA output from a power adaptor that plugs in the wall ok to use with the hummer?
also I hate to be a noob, lol, but I am a little confused about the kernel flashing procedure. How and what exactly does the hummer board connect to (PC?, commodore drive?) in order to flash the kernel. Is there a step by step guide?
Thanks!

(Disclaimer: I don't have a Hummer) This would indicate that the Hummer (like the DTV) runs on a few batteries. As stated there, it needs 5-6 V (regulated) DC; 9 V would probably break it (and a 9 V supplies seem to be mostly AC, not DC). USB hubs often come with suitable adapters. There is some Hummer flashing info in here and a DTV version in here (which may or may not apply to Hummer as well). As far as I know these are the closest to "step by step" as you can get. For flashing the kernal, use the Flash utility from here; if I remember correctly, the one on tlr's site still has the AT49 bug that breaks kernal flashing on Hummers. An IEC device ("commodore drive") is needed to flash the kernal, unless you build a dtvtrans cable and connect it to the userport (which can be problematic as the pull-up/down resistors that determine the video mode need to be removed which may results in problems in seeing what you're doing before the kernal is flashed). I hope someone who actually has flashed a Hummer or two can hop in for further help...

WOW, this was posted last May and only nojoopa replied. If it is not too late, I would say follow the steps as per David Murray's site. I found his Video on DTV flashing is a good step by step process (don't forget some of the risks).
BTW: IS DTV HACKING gone to sunset (dead?).... I still have 2 Hummers on the box to be hacked (done four hacks) but the novelty has weared out of me...
I logon here once a day but there seems no activity except for Robert's messages about upcoming events (c64)...

Well, as Jeri said on Facebook, she should get herself into gear about doing something with all those DTV ASICs that she has. Writing from Aberdeen, Scotland, Robert Bernardo Fresno Commodore User Group videocam.net.au/fcugJuly 24-25 Commodore Vegas Expo 2010 - www.portcommodore.com/commvex

I 100% agree.. if it is anything like what she was holding (prototype of what??) in the picture during the last C64 meeting in Portland...or even coming up with a base kit (ASIC already surface-mounted on a PCB that has all the connections like the hummers/dtv units.) for us hackers...is GREAT!
I kind of compare it to the Parallax Stamps/Propellers and the Arduino groups..except Jeri's ASIC are for the C64 enthusiasts.
Then people like me ( and Gargoyle can enjoy doing more --> hobby-wise).
BTW: I didn't mean to hijack further Gargoyle's original question:
I used the 6 volt 1A wallwarts because they are the ones available (and also because the original number of 1.5 AAA batteries needed were 4 in the original Hummer toy).

USB chargers should also be okay as these are 5V DC/500mA. Should be widely available these days. If you just add a USB connector to the DTV you can power it using a PC/laptop/recent sat or cable receivers with USB ports/your car hifi receiver with USB port/etc...
