hi all, I'm laser and i'm not a pc. I have an TS2068 that I still mess around with. I love the retrobits podcast. I learned of it about 3 weeks ago and have been listening to all the back episodes. I'm up to about #60 so far. I've started letting people know I'm looking for old computers they may have collecting dust (1979-1992) or there abouts. I've got an old laptop that has a 386sx in it. i consider it old, but not retro yet. Its 32 bit after all. I've got "The lost treasures of Infocom" installed in it. Love those old text adventures. My plan is to use the 386 as a server. I'm looking for advice on a 8bit computer that Must have an RS232 port. I want to connect via the serial port to the 386 and play the games that way. I'm considering a TRS80 Model 4. Any suggestions?

Now, that doesn't mean you can't use another machine, Because you can find just about every thing if you want to put the TIME and MONEY in to it. Also there is the matter of Storage. Earl, has pointed out that Emulation can be part of the/a solution. I found that helpful. I'm sure you get some suggestions from others here too. ;D

Using what I currently got is going to be a problem soon. As soon as a get my Traveling Salesman Problem converted to assembly the old TS2068 is going to be busy for a looong time. Years I suspect. hehe. I am leaning towards a TRS-80 model 4 to play the Infocom games on. I am keeping my eyes on ebay for one 'at the right price'. Different view points is nearly always a good idea though. laser
