Gideon Zweijtzer has released news about the 1541 Ultimate II. New features are: The PCB is 30% smaller. There is a MicroSD card slot, instead of a full-size SD slot. A real-time clock is implemented for correct file time and date. It uses a larger FPGA which enables the implementation of more features. There is a USB host port which can be used to connect USB memory sticks. The Ethernet port has been removed, due to design considerations and reliability. ---- He also has plans to make an suitable case for the device and is planning an initial run of 100 of the new version. Visit Gideon's website for more details and pictures of the 1541U-II. www.1541ultimate.net/content/index.php Truly, Robert Bernardo Fresno Commodore User Group videocam.net.au/fcug The Other Group of Amigoids www.calweb.com/~rabel1/ Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network www.sccaners.org

I wonder if the Ethernet port was removed in order to allow the cart to work in an SX-64. After looking at the pictures, I can see the "bulge" in the case preventing it from being used in the SX-64.

Heh, you take off the top of the case of the SX-64. Voila! Your 1541U with Ethernet fits! (And you have better cooling for the SX, too.) As Gideon said at his site, the Ethernet was only 95% reliable on the 1541U, Robert Bernardo Fresno Commodore User Group videocam.net.au/fcugThe Other Group of Amigoids www.calweb.com/~rabel1/Southern California Commodore & Amiga Network www.sccaners.org
