I can't find the thread where we contributed to a list with working memory cards for the 1541 III. Anyways, the old 16MB SD-card caught my eye yesterday, and I thought I might give it a try again. I know 1541 III doesn't read FAT12, so I had to find a program that let me choose FAT16. Windows format does not allow that on such small volumes. After a while I found an x86 port of linux mkdosfs. www1.mager.org/mkdosfs/I succeeded in formatting the card with FAT16. BUT! it's a no-go. The card is a blue HP branded SanDisk 16MB SD-card that came with a camera. Oh well... My Kingston 1GB MMC mobile-card is working great. [edit] It seems everything posted before 2007 is gone?

I've succesfully used a 16MB SD card (can't remember the brand right now) with my 1541-III(-DTV), using the method described in the old HOWTO I wrote. The problem with using just mkdosfs is (as far as I know) the partition table may still say that the card is FAT12, although I don't know if 1541-III checks this. I suggest using a Linux LiveCD to sort this out.

Well, another disk management software I have (R-Undelete) displays the filesystem of each drive, and it doesn't just say FAT like windows itself, but rather FAT12, FAT16 and so on, and before it said FAT12, but now it says FAT16. I'll try a linux live CD later.
