Yes, it is. I've learned my lesson there. From now on, I will own all domains associated with my projects.

hi
i was reading about the qlink reloaded site going down again, i would gladly donate money via paypal for paying/setting up a web domain again and/or server fees, i think that if every qlink user/former user donates at least $1.00 it would cover dns/domain/registration for the qlink site, lets help jim and the rest of the team on this, they are not asking for any money but we the users should donate, and even if there is no money to donate, u can donate your time, knowledge and whatnot for the qlink cause.

As of today 9/11/2009 quantumlink.us is not used. I went to GoDaddy.com and could get it for $5 a year or about $40 for 5 years or about $82 for 10 years. I guess 10 years woulid be the best if we could get 8 people to do $10 each. Be set for 10 years. Enless any one knows a way that cost less. -Raymond Day

Question, I know one issue is a domain name, is there also the issue that someone needs to host the server side app as well? Just trying to understand the various hurdles and perhaps we can divvy up the challenges to get er back going again.
I'll ping Jim for the source though, would be interesting to hack at. Is there a reason Java was specifically chosen?

Question, I know one issue is a domain name, is there also the issue that someone needs to host the server side app as well? Just trying to understand the various hurdles and perhaps we can divvy up the challenges to get er back going again. Just a note the server is running, and has not been down for quite a while. It should be at this IP: 66.135.39.36 If you email me, I'll forward you to the group of folks that have access to the source and they can add you to the respective lists. Essentially, I think the project needs a project coordinator. Right now, since no one is in that role, and lives are busy, nothing gets implemented. ShadowM has a whole large chunk of code to be implemented, but it needs to be installed, tested, etc. As to Java, there were a number of reasons: - I felt C was too low level for the code
- The language needed to natively support threading. To my knowledge, PHP does not support threading (you can encapsulate UNIX/Win32 processes via exec() or open_proc(), but that's pushing it. Not sure if Perl supports threads.
- I wanted cross platform compilation/execution (Yes, I know Mono offers .NET on Linux, but...
- I preferred a compiled solution. JIT compilation is fine. Python and Java provide that.
- Of what was left, I know Java.

If a server is needed I have one running ubuntu that isn't doing anything and its available if its needed. Mark Ponter of ltshosting.net is hosting the server, so no worries there. Like I stated, it's mainly a case of needing a coordinator. There is code ready to be installed, but it needs testing, coordination, etc. jim
