From what I recall 1541-III is based upon sd2iec dos, right ? I´ve been away from the forums for months, so I am not updates.
Do you mean that I can load e.g. a .prg file with fastload off a sd card in my 1541-III-DTV at the moment ? I Believe I have to reflash my 1541-III to get the proper fastload-code in the PIC rom then.
Or did I misunderstand you ?

From what I recall 1541-III is based upon sd2iec dos, right ? No. 1541-III and sd2iec are somewhat similar in design but use incompatible microcontrollers. While (as Unseen and jsaily already wrote in this thread...) the sd2iec firmware can theoretically be modified to work with the 1541-III, too, it's probably a quite an effort. Perhaps contact Jan Derogee and ask him whether he is interested to use the sd2iec firmware for the 1541-III and port it.

I am waiting for the new uIEC to arrive when Jim readies the shipment -- so I will enjoy the benefits of the sd2iec firmware with jdos. I can´t wait to get the unit :-)
Still, as far as I have seen, there is not a new firmware to the 1541-III(-DTV) which has embedded fastloader. I guess it is not a matter of raising enough cash for someone to do it, but rather a time issue for the ones who are capable to do it. I guess most ppl here on the board has long ago turned 30 and we don´t have the same time to sit in front of the c64 as we did in the 80/90´s :-) (oh, those glory days....)

Which of three fastloaders of the SD2IEC is supported by a DTV? I still could not find the JDos-DTV-Kernal. Link please! Is it stable or does it still have timing problems?

Which of three fastloaders of the sd2iec is supported by a DTV? For PAL: Turbodisk works, unpatched JiffyDos works (it only fails if you use a 1MHz drive, i.e. 1541 or 1571 in 1541 mode), FC3 and Dreamload have not been tested. There is a high probability For NTSC: Turbodisk probably won't work (doesn't matter if it's a DTV or C64), Jiffy will probably work the same as on a PAL system, neither FC3- nor Dreamload-support in sd2iec has ever been tested with an NTSC system (or if it was nobody told me). Are you sure something like that was ever released?

Are you sure something like that was ever released? This sounds like it: It's working nicely with a Jiffy Softkernal on a DTV here. I have an NTSC DTV2. Speeders for PAL are no big help!

The Jiffy kernal on the DTV is just a normal C64 Jiffy kernal run through tlr's kernalpatcher to get a runnable PRG ("softkernal"). There are also some other tools floating around to convert kernal images to softkernals.
No special Jiffy version for the C64DTV exists yet.

I tried that. Loaded kernalpatcher, loaded "jdos.c64.bin" and wrote it as a softkernel. It ended up as a file with .P00 extention and at 12KB.
This was not not possible to load+run from basic. Is there another approach to get this kernel working as a softkernal on a stock dtv2 ?

This works. What did you do exactly?

I started kernalpatcher.prg. Then i loaded the jdos.bin 8kb file. Then i wrote it with "v" and called it jdos.prg and then i also wrote it with "w" and called it jdos2.prg as I did not know which to use.
One became 33 block, the other 1 block.
Neither was loadable, nor had they a sys address if I did a "list" after i load "jdos.prg",8 or load "jdos2.prg",8
Should I cat the loader onto the 33 block file "cat jdos.prg >> jdos2.prg" so that they merge ?
Man, this is probably so insanely easy to do...too easy, thus making in complicated ;-)
