This hack I did to a gameboy cart is quite similar to this job. This time it's a bit smaller pads and the original chip will of course remain. 32 connections isn't so bad but I wouldn't want to do all 48 by hand I also use a silly looking magnification helmet that qualifies for geek gear to solder the littel stuff. On a side note my 1541-III-DTV's are both working well. I added the 3310LCD and that's a neat feature.

In the end I de soldered the flash and replaced it with the flash from a hummer, now both my original DTV2's are working perfect and one is PAL and one is NTSC. I have done no hardware mods or hack to them at this time but they are both working at least.
What I should do is put them in proper case and use them
