is a bit over my skill set but I will give it a shot. I was surprised by how good the music was.[/qoute] So have you played it before? I actually got started with that game on the Amiga version. But then later I found the C64 version and it is nearly as good as the Amiga version. Also your link to Pallo is bad on your site. Fixed it today! Thanks for letting me know!

expertsetup would it be possible for you to update the flash package with the new games? Sure, it will take some time but there is an update in the works.

some of my favorite games didn't even use the joystick at all...
all the Infocom games Bards Tale 1,2,3 Wasteland
So I would guess we could just add them to the flash list. But what about being able to save your current position in those games? Is that possible?
some of the ones i would love to see patched are master of magic, summer games, hacker, winter games, maniac mansion and zak mckraken.
If i ever get to the stage where i have a working hummer ill probably try to figure out the patching thing too.

Maniac Mansion and Zak McKraken were two of my favorites as well and I played them both for the first time on my C128. However, I'll probably never play the C64 version of those games again because they are just too darned slow. When i was 14 years old I was bored and had a lot of time on my hands. Add to the fact I hadn't seen the game have any faster disk access, so I was unaware how slow it was. Now I have a family and very little free-time.
I actually played Maniac Mansion, the remade version for Windows, just a few months ago. It took me a few days to solve it. Partly because I remembered a lot of things. But secondly because walking from room to room was instantaneous, and no disk swapping.

I'm not sure there would be an easy way to save games with the flash file system. However with a drive connected these games would work o.k.

I was thinking and wondering about something. For games to load from flash they need to be single files, right? I mentioned Leaderboard Golf at the last TPUG meeting and Ian, the gentleman who patched Miner 2049'er said something about games with multiple files being a no-go. That got me to thinking, what about using cartridge versions of the games? There's a whole whack of them at Patrick van der Poel's cartridge archive including Leaderboard Golf. Using cartridge versions might make life easier.

Golan that's a good point. In fact Ian has patched two cartridge games so far, Miner2049er and Loadrunner. I have also had a go at patching some cart files and that has worked great for PacMan, Ms. PacMan and Pitfall.
However multi load games are not out of the question. There are a few methods of solving the multi file game problem. One is to patch the games to load additional files from device 1 instead of device 8. Another is to load a patched kernal that will load from device 1 when a call to load from device 8 is made. Roland has covered some of this at the German C64 hacking site, I will have to post the link. He solved this problem to make The Last Ninja work from flash. Lots of precedence for multi games just non from me yet.
I have Rastan sitting on my desktop and am working on getting it to work with the Userport Joystick. After that I need to patch it to load from flash and then I should have it ready to go.
As far as I know Patrick van der Poel's cart collection is one of the most complete on the net, I have used it quite a bit and it's a bookmark we all should have. Thanks for pointing it out Golan.

Getting multi load games to work from flash is getting into stuff that is beginning to get over my head I think. I was thinking that it may start getting difficult getting this stuff to work if they're not loading through standard kernal routines, no?
Yup... the cart conversions are still holding some interest for me. I'm going to have a go at a couple later on tonight maybe. My Agent USA conversion has gotten hung up. I can't get the joystick to behave properly after doing the $DD01 conversions. It's obviously processing the joystick in a way I don't fully understand.

Thanks Ian! You know, here are some other suggestions.. THey didn't even occur to me before since I already have these on my Version 1 DTV, but I suppose if you were trying to make an all-in-one ultimate game unit from the Hummer, you couldn't leave out these:
Jumpman Junior. Impossible Mission Tower Toppler.

Well here is the disk based version of Rastan, the flash version is in the works. I hope to get a handle on patching the loading code so that multi load games can work from the flash.
This game is a fun hack n slash platform arcade conversion from the late 80's. It's a long ways from the arcade but really has great graphics and sound for the ole 64.

Just thought I'd let you know, I got the hummer unit out today and hooked it up. Tried GEOS (as you can see the screenshot in the other thread) and most of the new patched games. I had a good time playing ghostbusters for a while.

I had a good time playing ghostbusters for a while. GEOS pic looks good. I d/l the source so will start to read it a bit. Ghostbusters is fun but man it gets frantic... Choplifter is a great addition Ian! Hummer Power. Giving up on DTV Wiki as games repository and will just link it to Davids site. Will work on getting my site updated and also a link to any other Hummer/DTV game collections. Right now I am fixing my BBS source to work with BBS Serv. Man what a blast it is to run my old board, bugs and all! hahaha.
