Hi all!
My first post on this forum. Yay!
The last few days I've been telnetting to a few BBSs for the first time in my life, using the Contiki cgterm program. Does anyone know if it's possible to download files with that program? Or is there any other term program I can use with my RetroReplay/RR-Net? I don't want to go through the trouble of setting up an RS-232 link and a Hayes emulator; besides, I'm using Linux, so it's probably out of the question anyway.

I really need to try out the new Contiki one of these days. This CGTerm is intriguing, is it related to the PC version?
As for Linux and Hayes emulators, brain's "tcpser" program was written for Linux.

Thanks for the tip. I've downloaded, compiled and installed it. It's up and running but I have no idea how to actually initiate a call from my c64 running Novaterm 9.6/Turbo232. The serial port is working, since I can login with the normal terminal emulator, but when I try to dial a number it just says "Connected!" and waits forever.
I don't understand the first thing about hayes commands and such, so I think I'll just wait for a terminal program with RR/RR-net support to come along.
About Contiki cgterm/PC CGTerm, I have no whether there's any connection between the programs.

I haven't tried Contiki yet, but CGTerm works wonderfully to telnet out to BBS's. You can try my BBS (the address is in my signature). I was able to telnet out to Riktronics BBS using my BBS's terminal program and a copy of Jim Brain's tcpser the other day. Other than losing a few characters here and there, things seemed to go great. It's a lot nicer not having to think about how to translate remapped keyboards and all that, when you have the actual C64 keyboard under your fingers and the symbols in front of your eyes.

I haven't tried Contiki yet, but CGTerm works wonderfully to telnet out to BBS's. The latest version of Contiki comes with a program, also called CGTerm, for dialing to Telnet BBSes like ours from real Commodore 64s. So I am wondering if that version is related to the PC version?

Mmm. I see; after I hit "send" I went "whoops!" 'cause I realized he was talking about the CGTerm within Contiki (helps if you read the subject line...) sooo... shucks, haven't tried that yet. I hope after I get back from my "vacation" (not that I'm working, plan on fixing that when I get back!) of seeing my girlfriend and family for the holidays, I want to get another 128 I forgot I had set up in the living room (conveniently close to the cable modem router, heh heh) and maybe I can pick up a Lantronix UDS-10 interface or whatever they're called and hop on ze Intarweb. Nom nom, cabel Intarweb. Would give me an excuse to try Contiki. Want! Pretty colors. Oooooohhh... *mesmerized*
